I am a 37-year-old self-employed writer, editor and teacher. I am spending the year traveling the world, and just returned from a six-month house-sitting gig in Scotland.

Personality-wise, I am creative but pragmatic, financially and emotionally stable, honest and considerate, and am not afraid to get my hands dirty. I don't smoke, rarely drink, and am generally healthy and active. I have very little baggage (emotional or luggage-wise) and I can work from anywhere, thanks to my laptop and my cell phone. I have lived in huge cities and way, way out in the country and am comfortable in either scenario.

Since I am self-employed, I can be on the property a lot to care for any animals. In addition, I grew up on a farm in Upstate NY, so I have a lot of experience with both animals (of all sorts, from rabbits, chickens, cats and dogs all the way to cows and horses) and gardening. I'm an avid walker, and love to have the company of dogs while I hoof it through the streets or woods.

If I house sit for you, I am happy to do any duties that will make your life easier, including caring for animals and plants, gardening, forwarding mail, etc. Since I've traveled so much myself, I know that little things like this can really set your mind at ease while you're on the road.

I am available beginning December 2009 and running through December 2010.

My ideal situation would be something for at least a month, as I like to get settled into a place, experience some of its culture, and develop a routine for working, walking, etc.
