I am a real 'home person'. I love to potter around the house and garden, fixing things and making things around the house prettier. I love being outdoors and gardening - it is great to see the work of my hands erupting in a profusion of colour and smells.
I can hold my own in any debate from pickles to politics - and all that with a dash of humour.
I have to add that I do like to get out and meet people (love people and like to laugh a lot) and enjoy the occasional beer (especially after a hot afternoon in the garden). This, however, does not mean that I am not a responsible, reliable person but rather that I am all of this and more.
I am a retired police reservist and served the South African Police on an intervention unit. Reservists in South Africa are not paid for their time on duty.
The bottom line is I am a God fearing honest South African, and here in Africa life is not for the faint hearted.


As most house sitting jobs are for couples, and I don't have a husband, I have a friend who is also on this site, who is willing to partner with me on a house sitting assignment. Her username is BrendaDreyer - 'Reliable Genius'. From our profiles you will see that we are both very capable and independent women with a myriad of skills between the two of us. It would be preferable to secure assignments where there will be some form of remuneration. Your house, garden and pets will be sad to see us go.

Since I have lived alone for many years I am able to the things most women would rely on their husbands for:
From painting the bathroom to changing a tyre on a vehicle.
From planting a herb garden to shoveling snow and making a mean barbeque. Here in Africa us women light our own fires.
I have had my own animals all my life and adore them (spoil them is probably closer to the truth). Since I have pursued holistic remedies all my life I am able to come up with a natural cure for most normal animal illnesses.
I can sew - so anything in the house that needs mending will be done.

As my children have grown up and left the nest, I find myself in the enviable position of being able to do the things I always wanted to and what I want to do is see the world - even if it means I have to work long hours to achieve this. Naturally it would be best for me to look at long term house sitting jobs.
