So you're new to the site, and don't know how to get around? take a few mins to read this.


Newly Registered House Sitters

If you're new here or recently registered as a House Sitter on the site and want to be found, The first thing you need to do is Fill out your Profile. Take a few mins to carefully write a detailed summary about yourself and the services you offer. If you want to stand out from the others, you really need to make a first good impression. First Impressions are everything!

How do I fill out my Profile?

It's easy, Look at the top right Menu and drag your mouse over and Click "My Account" > "Settings" > "Edit your Profile" Fill out your profile, then scroll down and click "Save Profile Settings" and your done. or you can just click this link to take you directly to the Profile Editor.

Home Owners wishing to post a House Sitting Job.

If you recently registered as a Home Owner and you're looking for a House Sitter, Please go Directly to the Classifieds Section and post the details of your House Sitting assignment and let the House Sitters contact you! Please Be Clear on the details and expectations you require of the House Sitter. Once you Publish an Ad (it's Free) I'll post it on the front page of HouseSitters.com to give your Job assignment maximum exposure to all House Sitters, then all you have to do is screen the applicants.

How Do I delete my Ad?

It's Easy! Just Visit the Ad you placed in the Classifieds section and you will see a link that says "Delete Listing" in the top right corner of your Ad, Just Click the "Delete Listing" link, and you're Finished!

How Do I Delete or Cancel my Account?

If you wish to delete or cancel your account with us, Simply Click on the top right Menu that says "My Account" > "Settings" > "Account Settings" and look for the link in the top left that says  [Cancel Account] or if you are logged in, you can click this link that will take you directly to the Cancel Account page. But, if you delete/cancel your account, you can never recover it, you can however create a new account at a later time if you want to.

I accidentally registered as a House Sitter or Home Owner, How can I change my Member Type Status?

If you're a Home Owner or House Sitter, and you accidentally registered yourself as the wrong member type, you can change your Member type by clicking on the top right Menu "My Account" > "Settings" > "Account Settings" and change your Member Type there. When you selected your correct member type, scroll down and click "Save Account Settings" and you're done! if you're currently logged in, you can click on this link to take you directly to the proper page to edit your settings


Comments and Feedback Rating System

If you take a minute to look at a Members Profile, you will see a Comment Section in the Lower Right hand corner of a members profile. this is reserved for members who wish to give Positive or Negative FeedBack for Home Owners and House Sitters. This will Help to serve both Home Owners and House Sitters when screening a Client for a sitting assignment.

If a Home Owner or House Sitter leaves Negative Feedback on your profile, it cannot be deleted by you, Only by the Author who wrote it. So do not coming crying to me about how John Doe left you a bad review, I will not delete negative comments PERIOD!

Anyone caught trying to Cheat the Feedback section will be banned for life! This Site has special IP filters that track and label each and every message on this site. and will alert me instantly if you try to do so. you have been warned!

Adding Friends and Favoriting users

When viewing a House Sitter or Home Owner profile, you can add them as a "Friend" or Add to your "Favorites" so you don't lose contact with them should the need arise to secure their services in the future. In addition, This also adds a little bit more credibility if a Home Owner who wishes to contact your other clients for references. So if you found and used someone from the site, be sure to add them as a "Friend" by visiting their profile.

Public and Private Photo Gallery Permissions :

If you will, please take a look at the MANAGE PICTURES section, you will find a few options that can be very useful in the drop down menus, when communicating with a potential client, they will more than likely want to see that you are Bonded, or have insurance,  view your resume or letters of recommendations by Home Owners you have House Sat in the past.

How to Use Photo Permissions :

If you want to upload personal scans or photos of your Bond, Resume, or Letters of Recommendations, Credit Report etc, Click On the Top Menu that says "MY ACCOUNT" then Click on "SUBMIT ITEMS" OR "MY ITEMS"  then select your "Image Catagory" as "Private Docs" then Below that, you will see the option of "Who can view this image?" If you Select "Anyone" this means anyone, including the general public can see it.

If you select "Friends" then only those people who you have added as a "Friend" can view the photos or documents you uploaded. while other users or the general public cannot view them, But you have to Add them as a Friend first, and they must approve your "Friend Request" before they can view your Private Docs.

And the last option is "NoBody" this means no one from the site can view these pictures or documents, not even you or I can view them, all you will see is a Small Thumbnail image, giving you maximun security in keeping your information private. However, once you upload them, you can change the permission later for each photo on who can view these pics to Friends only if you wish to share that infomation with a potential Home Owner that wishes to see your resume or referances.

Image Title helps you to manage the name of your Docs/Pics you upload.
